A day in the life of...a development graduate

Personal Profile

Name: Faith Dulson

Age: 22

Office: Bristol

Department: Development

Background

University: University of Reading

Course: Real Estate BSc

Graduated: Summer 2017

In the summer of 2012 I undertook work experience with Savills planning department in Cardiff. It was this experience that made me realise I wanted to study Real Estate at university.

I graduated from the University of Reading in July 2017 after completing a three-year undergraduate course. During my course I completed a range of work experience including a six-week internship. It was following my internship that I decided to apply to regional graduate schemes and I successfully secured a graduate position at Savills Bristol office in February 2017.

TYPICAL DAY

As a graduate in the Bristol development team I have experienced a range of work, covering all three development service lines: valuation, consultancy and agency. As I cover a range of work my days vary considerably. One day I could be running a valuation report, the next I could be drafting a marketing brochure, and then I could be attending a networking event. In summary, no two days are the same.

BEST THING ABOUT MY JOB

This industry really does epitomise the “work hard, play hard” ethos. Not only do we work hard, we are actively encouraged to attend events that will allow us to build our networks, which in turn build and assist our workload in the future. I feel that Savills actively promotes professional development and graduates are given the opportunity to attend a variety of events both educational and fun.

future aspirations

I hope to complete my APC (valuation pathway) in November 2019 and I plan to stay within the development team in Bristol.
