Dan Smyth

Dan joined Savills in 2021 and is now joint head of a national team providing EIA, DCO and major infrastructure project management and a range of specialist environmental services. 

Dan has 30 years’ experience as an environmental and technology specialist in consents for strategic infrastructure projects. Dan is a recognised expert in the field of low carbon and renewable energy and waste management, including technology advice, circular economy and life cycle assessment. He frequently acts as a client core team member, taking a strategic role in managing the interfaces between client, engineers, legal advisers, communications advisers, experts and external stakeholders. His understanding of technical issues and statutory processes helps his clients deliver results.

Dan is currently acting on a series of carbon capture projects, new energy from waste capacity, strategic rail freight interchanges, hydrogen power, renewables and BESS projects. He is also Savills' lead on water neutrality, air quality and environmental permitting.    

Dan is focussed on helping clients in the sectors that can make the biggest difference in their journey to net zero. He is a keen sportsman who took up tennis when he joined Savills in 2021 and is now one of the club captains of the King Alfred Lawn Tennis club in Brighton.
