Case Study

Dovehouse Street

Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea

London Planning

Auriens Limited sought to secure consent for an extra-care development which would deliver very high-quality accommodation with a focus on the quality of care to be provided on site. The property had a restrictive C2 use covenant, the site was sensitive in terms of massing and design and the site contained trees which were required to be removed.

Savills planning engaged and negotiated with the council through the pre-application and application processes and were instructed to aid the effective implementation of the stakeholder engagement strategy. A robust case for the extra-care development centred on the need for accommodation for older people, the benefits that this use would deliver to the borough, the high-quality and contextual building design and replacement tree scheme. Savills planning was instrumental in communicating the benefits of the extra care use to secure support from key stakeholders.

Savills planning successfully secured planning permission for Auriens Limited for the development and have continued to work with the client to implement the development. The development is currently being constructed on site and is set for completion in 2021. It will deliver 56 extra-care units, communal and wellbeing facilities, service areas, back of house areas and on-site care and service provision.
