Savills secured full planning consent for 106 new apartments to be built in one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in central Manchester.

Acting on behalf of Waterside Places, a joint venture between Muse Developments and the Canal & River Trust, the 106 new dwellings will form the latest phase of the wider Islington Wharf development in the heart of Ancoats, which has seen sustained regeneration over the last 12 years to provide canal side, residential-led development.
The application, became the first to be determined by the city council’s reinstated virtual planning committee since lockdown measures were eased. In addition to the consent for the building of 106 apartments was approval of commercial use for the ground floor of the plot.
Savills heritage & townscape team prepared the heritage, townscape and visual impact assessment to support the application and assess the potential impacts of the development on designated heritage assets and consider the visual impacts of the proposals on the surrounding area.
