CHALLENGE

Comparing the two investment methods (self funded versus lease options) to rollout electric vehicle chargers across five retail sites within their portfolio.

SOLUTION

Savills carried out grid surgeries with the different DNOs and submitted budget quotes to understand the trigger points for new connection costs.

Savills engaged with ten different EV charger developers who provide a fully funded solution.

RESULTS

Seven developers provided initial Head of Terms for a fully funded solution, their commercial offers were compared on a like for like basis.

Savills estimated a EV forecourt size and estimated equipment and installation cost as well as grid connection costs provided by the different DNOs.

NFU Mutual decided to proceed with a lease option, three bidders were taken to the next stage of interviews. One party was selected.

NFU Mutual instructed Savills to advise on installing EV charging across our retail park portfolio. We were thoroughly impressed by their market knowledge and expertise in this field - Savills presented the information in a way which was clear to understand and allowed detailed comparisons of different offerings in the market. By the end of the process we were comfortable we had explored every option available to us and had ultimately secured the most appropriate strategy for our sites.
