CHALLENGE
Identify within the portfolio the locations most suited to host Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure. Understand the different charging types available and investment options and identify the preferred solution for the client in terms of ESG targets but also financial investment.

SOLUTION
Savills carried out an intial high level review across the portfolio by assessing the traffic volume, the existing charging infrastructure, the cathcment area of the site, dwell time and the types of chargers and investment available. A summary of all sites with detailed number and types of chargers, costs was created.

RESULTS
Budget grid appliactions resulted in the most costly part of the installation, varying from £40k to £150k. A mixture of chargers was identified to accommodate all user groups to the retail sites as it targets both en-route and destination charging sessions.

A combination of fast chargers and ultra rapid chargers was outlined for each site, with a representation of costs for the capital expenditure. The combination of the grid costs and capex resulted in a total investment across the portfolio of c. £2.5m.
