I joined the Technical Due Diligence (TDD) team, within the Building and Project Consultancy Division (BPC), in September 2022 as a keen sandwich placement student, fresh out of my second year at the University of Reading, working under the helpful guidance of Charlotte Stockwell and Ricardo Coelho.

I grew up around the Chilterns Hills in the south-east where my family ran a furniture company in High Wycombe called William Bartlett & Sons Ltd until it closed in 2005. Regularly walking through beech, ash, yew and hazel, amongst others, it was not long before woodlands gave me a sense of calm. At 24 I decided I wanted to go to university and my relatively short life experience led me to forestry at Bangor University. I am grateful university came to me later than most; I learnt where my interests lie and found something to suit.

One of the many benefits of being a placement student is that you have the opportunity to get involved with all aspects of the business and to explore further the topics you are most interested. Being part of all departmental and business development meetings made me feel very welcome and valued as well as learning how a large firm works.

Having successfully applied for a yearlong placement at Savills and arranged a flat share for the year with some university friends I looked forward to my introduction to the Retail Property Market with a mixture of trepidation and excitement, hoping that I wouldn’t make too many schoolboy errors.

I have had the opportunity to work with a number of experienced chartered surveyors across the technical due diligence, design & contract administration and dilapidations teams, giving me a breadth of experience across many different property types.
