Moving House Tips That You Need
IMAGE

Moving house doesn’t need to be stressful. There is always a lot to do when it comes to moving house but by having a clear plan in your head, there’s no reason to get in a muddle.

Step 1 – Book a Removal Company

Once you have a rough idea of what needs to be taken to your new home it’s time to look for removal companies in Chester. Whilst you could attempt to do the move yourself, 80% of movers underestimate how much they actually have and hire a van that is too small for them. A removal company, however, will have a wealth of experience with careful packing, handling and loading of delicate and heavier items so they arrive safely to your destination.

Step 2 – Declutter

Decluttering every now and again is essential, however, it doesn’t mean we do. When moving home and packing your items up you may realise you have accumulated a lot of clutter that you haven no use for. Rather than packing it all up and taking it with you, now is the time to get rid. Whether you decide to sell on, donate to charity or take to the recycling centre, the last thing you want to do is clutter your new home and not only that but you will be helping to keep your removal costs down too.

Step 3 – Packing

One you have set your moving date, we recommend to start packing up. It is unlikely that everything that you have out is really essential like photo frames and other home décor - so why not start packing up now? Before you dive right in, ensure you make a list for each room and to set aside the essentials you need now to avoid unpacking again.

Step 4 – Bills and Utilities

Avoid waiting until the moving date to arrange your utilities and bills. Your best bet is to do all your ringing around early to let your utilities know that you are moving and when so that this can be put in place before you arrive. No one wants to take the joy out of moving day by being on the phone to your providers.

Step 5 – Pack a Survival Box

As mentioned earlier, it is important that you set aside everything that you need to use everyday and night up until the big day. This might include toothbrush, toilet roll, clothes, chargers, tea, coffee and anything else that you consider essential.
