St John's College, owners of the St John's Innovation Park, wished to bring forward a new cutting edge office and R&D facility to add to their existing holding. The renowned St John's Innovation park is located at the heart of the northern technology cluster. The Maurice Wilkes Building represents the first phase of a wider master plan.
Savills advised the college on the project, from inception through to completion including design input, development partner selection, planning advice, agency and property management.
The timeline for the project was as follows:
- Construction started: 23rd March 2017
- Construction completed: 9th July 2018
- Construction value: £15 million including fees
- 65,000 sq ft office R&D building funded by St John’s on a speculative basis
This building was fully let prior to practical completion, setting a new level of headline rent within the northern tech cluster.
