Commercial graduates are given the opportunity to gain experience in a range of specialisms to understand the industry, market and Savills teams and clients, which prepares them for APC and becoming a business professional.

Savills development teams advise clients on a broad range of development including residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes. Our clients include landowners, developers, investors and the public sector and our work takes the form of agency, consultancy and valuation. Development surveyors need to have a detailed understanding of the UK planning system, through work with our planning teams. In addition they often work closely with other specialist teams for example our student housing, healthcare, hotels and sustainability teams. Development graduates gain a broad experience in key areas such as agency, valuation and planning as well as experience in some more specialist areas.

In addition to our estate agency teams, we also have specialists advising on all aspects of residential property, including investment, development, affordable housing, student housing and portfolio management. Residential graduates will gain a broad experience in key areas such as agency, development, valuation, and planning as well as more specialist areas.

Within our residential teams, we offer two specific pathways as outlined below;

Affordable housing

Savills affordable housing teams advise housing associations, local authorities and their funders, offering a broad range of services including asset management, stock rationalisation, development, surveying and delivery, valuations, treasury and debt advisory. Affordable housing graduates will have the opportunity to rotate within each of the five teams in the division, gaining a wide range of experience. In addition, graduates will be exposed to clients from the outset and given the opportunity to build their network both internally and externally working with market leaders.

We believe that genuine progress can be made through a targeted programme of incremental improvements within Savills operations and activities.

Graduates based in London and selected regional offices rotate between different specialist departments. This will typically involve four monthly rotations but can sometimes involve longer stays in an allocated department if it is deemed beneficial for an individual’s training.

The teams span a wide variety of specialisms; it is possible to specialise in commercial, residential or planning and development or to have a combined experience. The Operational Capital Markets (OCM) division advises clients in the PRS (including multifamily and single family), purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), co-living, senior living and healthcare sectors across the UK and Europe. The division provides valuation, consultancy, transactional and financing (corporate finance and debt advisory) services. Already 85 people strong, the division is on an exciting growth trajectory. This pathway provides the opportunity to shape some of the fastest growing and most exciting sectors in real estate, as part of a dynamic, inclusive and market-leading team.
